When working on our old house, we found several square nails. The carpenter who built this house bent his share of nails. Yet somehow this house has been standing since 1874.
I have been thinking about these square nails for a long time. I guess because we usually think about nails as being round. So if a nail is square it could be considered an “out of the box” type of nail. Just seems as if there is some philosophical connection between those square nails and what I learned about my writing in your class…………and how to pass what I learned on to my second grade students. Thank you for respecting “out of the box” expressiveness ……….
Apicture is indeed worth a thousand words!
Well done
My husband says that back then, nails were made by hand. Square nails were easier to make. Probably a blacksmith made them.
I love old houses. You have a bit of history there in every nail!
