We began our trip through Vietnam with a night on Hạ Long Bay. A four hour drive east of Hanoi, rice paddies and rural villages finally give way to the town of Hạ Long. Hạ Long Bay, otherworldly in its misty silence, seems insulated from the rest of Vietnam, tucked among mythical limestone islets.

Your photos are beautiful.
Thank you. I’m having so much fun with my camera. I’m not great, but I’m taking better photos than I’ve ever thought myself capable of taking.
Beautiful. I made my first trip to Vietnam recently (Ho Chi Minh city) and found it to be an amazing place. I hope to go back and visit some more areas. Who did you travel with?
Our trip was through Vermont Biking Tours. They were amazing at organizing 18 people through this country. The tour guides are native to the country and had wonderful English skills.
We liked Saigon quite a bit. It’s much more westernized (and less oppressed) than Hanoi. The middle part of the country is more agricultural and more moderate weather. Hoi An was my favorite.
Kay you are capturing some great images. Really makes me feel like I’m there.
Alex, thank you for saying that! Tom gave me the camera about a year ago for my birthday. Last summer we bought a wonderful lens. I have taken images that I never thought possible for me to take.
