Early this morning I stepped out on the side porch before the neighborhood woke. Before the day’s chores began. Before one thing led to another. One squirrel eyed me from an oak branch. Her day hadn’t quite started yet either.
Each year about this time, fire engines from neighboring towns are displayed around Franklin Park. Kids can climb up inside. They can talk to the firemen.
This year, the leaves blazed with their fall color. The whole park went up in gold and red.
